Michael Lavigne came to fiction at midlife after an award-winning career in advertising and three years living in the former Soviet Union, where he formed close ties with refusenik and dissident communities. His novels explore where the political meets the personal: fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, and ordinary people navigating a world of hidden agendas. He studied at the University of Chicago’s Committee on Social Thought and lives in San Francisco with his wife, Gayle. Write to him and he’ll most likely answer.
